Tour Description

Visit Athens for 2 nights, the island of Kefalonia for 4 nights and the island of Corfu (Kerkyra) for 3 Nights.

For Travelers who wish to explore the Ionian Islands in Greece and enjoy the highlights of Athens, the lush green landscapes, local specialties, unique architecture, sailing trips and many colorful beaches.

Visit Athens to view the main historic sites of the city, where the Greek civilization was born. Go to the island of Kefalonia, to enjoy its magnificent beaches and take day trips to visit the islands of Lefkada, and Zakinthos. Visit Corfu to admire the Venetian Architecture of the old town and take a day trip to the islands of Paxi.

During the specific trip travelers will be able to enjoy, History and Archeology tours, Monasteries & churches, Palaces and Venetian Castles, islands with unique architecture, caves and caverns, relaxation, local food, sailing trips and colorful beaches.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1:
Upon your arrival in Athens you will be transferred to your Hotel in the Plaka area where you will stay for two nights, to rest from your overseas flight and enjoy the sights of the city.

Day 2:
Take the half day tour of the city or the walking tour of Athens and visit the Parthenon, the New Acropolis Museum and Olympic Stadium where the first modern Olympic Games took place. Spend the rest of your day at leisure and walk around the Plaka area that surrounds the hill of the Acropolis. Have dinner on top of the Lycabettus hill that is offering a splendid view of the illuminated city at night.

Day 3:
After Breakfast fly over to the island of Kefalonia, where you can stay for four nights, in a nice beach resort, next to the capital town of Argostoli that is centrally located.
Spend your first day in the island by enjoying the beach in front of your hotel and enjoy your evening exploring the town of Argostoli where you can have dinner. You can also take a boat trip across to the second biggest town of Lixouri.

Day 4:
Rent a car and explore the villages and the beaches of the island, at the north east side such as the port town of Sami, Agia Effimia, the picturesque village of Assos and the fishing port of Fiscardo.

Drive through the slopes of Mt. Ainos, to go to the pot town of Sami and enjoy the black pine forest, the natural environment and the splendid views of the ocean and the island Ithaca. On the way to the top of the mountain and not far from Argostoli, you can optionally visit the Venetian Castle of St. George.

3 kilometers prior to the port of Sami, in the village of Chaliotata, you can take a stop and visit the Cavern of Drogarati that is one of the popular attractions of the island.
Sami is a picturesque port town where many restaurants and coffee shops are available along the main pier of the town. At the north of the town there is the ancient Acropolis of Sami and a bit further up north is the settlement of Karavomilos, where you can find directions to the Caved Lake of Melissani.

The road goes further up north to the picturesque fishing port of Agia Effimia, where you could enjoy a nice break and then take the road that goes northwest to the quaint village of Assos. On the way to Assos village you will take a stop at the spectacular beach ofMirtos and optionally a swim at the turquoise waters of the bay. Your next stop will be the quaint village of Assos, where you can have lunch and enjoy a nice stroll in the Venetial Castle of Assos, that is offering nice views to the bay of Assos.

Further up north is the Fishing port of Fiscardo where you can enjoy some nice sea food, but prior you can hike down to Dafnoudi cove for a swimm to the crystal clear waters of the bay. On the way back to Argostoli, keep in mind that it will take you approximately 90'.
In the case that you would like to visit each and every of the attractions that are mentioned above, you might as well consider exploring the specific area in two consecutive days.

Day 5:
Today you can consider taking a boat trip around some of the coastal areas of the island and visit the spectacular Blue Caves in Zakinthos and the popular bay of Navagio, or the ship wreck.
Alternatively you can consider taking a boat trip to the island of Ithaca, where you will spend time at the picturesque main port town of Vathy, visit the fishing port of Kioni and swim in the crystal clear waters of the coves of this island.

Day 6:
After Breakfast transfer to the port and catch a boat to the islands of Lefkada, Meganisi (where you will visit the Papanikolis Cave), the port of Nidri and the lush green island of Scorpios.

Day 7:
Today you will be transferred to the airport where you will catch a flight to the island of Corfu, where you can stay for three nights, either in the town of Kerkyra, or in one of the beach resorts, close to the capital town. Upon your arrival you will enjoy your day at leisure, exploring the old town of Kerkyra. Some of the highlights of this town is the old palace of King George (Museum of Asian Art), the square of Ano and Kato Platia, the Square of Liston, the Archaeological Museum of the island, the Monastery of Vlachernon or Canoni island, south of the airport of the island and the church of Saint George, at the Bottom of the old fortress.

Day 8:
After Breakfast, you can rent a car and explore some of the villages and the beaches of the island.
Start your day by visiting the Summer Palace of Acheleion near the village of Gastouri, south of Kerkyra town. Then drive northwest towards Paleokastritsa and take a swim at the sandy beach of Glyfada. Your next stop will be Paleokastritsa, where you can have lunch and a visit to the Byzantine Monastery of Theotokou. Slightly north of Paleokastritsa, you can take a stop at Angelokastro, (a Venetian castle) where you can enjoy some spectacular views of the west coast of the island. Driving along the west coast of the island you will access the sandy beach of Agios Stefanos, at the northwest tip of the island. Your next stop will be the beach of Sidari and next to it you will enjoy the beach of Love (or Canal D' Amour). Driving along the north coast of the island you will access the fishing port of Roda, where you can enjoy some good sea food. From there you can make your way back to your hotel, keeping in mind that the drive back to Kerkyra town is approximately 60' minutes.

The specific attractions could also be enjoyed in two days, but on the second day you can include a visit to some of the traditional villages of Mount Pantkrator, that is offering magnificent views of the entire island and the Albanian coasts. The fishing village of Kassiopi at the north east coast of the island, the village of Strinilas, at the top of the mountain of Pantokratoras, and the beaches of Dasia and Gouvia, slightly north of Kerkyra town.

Day 9:
Today you can consider enjoying a sailboat trip to the islands of Paxi, south of Corfu island, that is considered to be a sailing paradise.

Day 10:
After Breakfast transfer to the airport and fly back to Athens where you will connect to your overseas flight back home.
